Here’s What I’ve Been Up To | Paul Warren

Hello friends!

It has been years since I updated this site. So much has happened since then.

Last I wrote, I had just released The Paul Warren Project CD, “Round Trip”. Thank you to all who bought and supported it. I hope you enjoyed listening to it as much as did making it. I was living in Michigan at the time and still touring with Rod Stewart. In 2012, Rod asked me to work on his upcoming album, which became the “Time” CD.

“Time” was released in 2013. It started with me just playing guitar on the songs. By the “time” it was finished I had co-written 3 songs (a 4th cowrite is on the special edition) with Rod and others from his band. I also ended up producing his lead vocals! We cut most of it in LA, but Rod also flew me to England and to Florida to produce an additional two vocals. What a joy it was producing one of my favorite singers! The CD went on to be Rod’s first #1 of original songs in decades. It went to the top of the charts in the UK and remained in the Top 40 for months, reaching Platinum status!

After completing Rod’s album, I did some production work in Michigan for local talent. In these projects I worked as writer, guitarist, bass player, singer, and percussionist as well as producer.

At this point I realized it was time for a change. I had been on the road playing guitar for a variety of groups, and singers, for the better part of 42 years. I spoke to Rod about this and we parted in the most amicable way you could imagine. Thirteen years with him is the longest I ever stayed with any artist, in any capacity. I carry many fond memories from those years. Now I had the producer/writer bug and I decided to pursue it. Rod’s CD was a hit, so it was time to strike while the iron was hot!

THE BIG MOVE

Melanie and I sold our house in Michigan, packed up, and moved to “Music City” Nashville! This was in the Fall of 2013. Since being here, I have had the pleasure of working with some of the best musicians I have ever encountered — and that is saying a LOT. I am in 5 bands (including The Paul Warren Project), playing blues, blues rock, classic rock, Pop, and every other style you can imagine.

While here, I have produced/co-wrote a CD for a Nashville singer last year (2015). Unfortunately, some pending business complications prevent me from giving you details. As of now there is no release date scheduled, but hopefully all will be sorted out soon. It is an outstanding record.

I am currently producing a guitar based RnR band out of Knoxville — The Juke Joint Drifters. I have also participated in some of the writing for this project and I am looking forward to sharing it with you once we have it ready. When I get the travel bug, I still tour in Europe once or twice a year with The Paul Warren Project.

I hope this post finds you music lovers healthy and happy! I will be staying on top of this site from now on and will keep you posted on upcoming shows, releases, and other planned musical events.

Until then, take care. Cheers!
